This shockwave effect was a personal project where I really wanted to dive deeper into Unreal Engine 5’s Niagara system, materials, and texture work.
The effect has this bright, almost liquid-like energy that spreads outward, and I spent a lot of time tweaking the shapes and colors to give it a dynamic, magical vibe. I played around with contrast and glow to make sure the effect pops but still feels cohesive with the circular design and the smaller details, like the golden sparks.
There was a lot of back and forth between the materials and the particle systems to get the movement and distortion to flow naturally. It’s one of those pieces where I kept discovering new ways to push the materials further, and the process felt just as rewarding as the final look!
